Beauty is something that typically most think they have covered, but just when you think you have it all figured out, a new twist or solution presents itself. Below, I will be showing you four esoteric things you are doing wrong in your beauty routine.

1. Drying Your Hair With A Towel

According to celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin in a Marie Claire article, "I always suggest my clients dry their hair with an old cotton t-shirt instead of a towel out of the shower," she says. "Wet strands are much more fragile and prone to breakage and the harsh fibers of a towel can be too aggressive. " Keeping up with the Kardashian's hairstylist just got that much easier.

2. Applying Under Eye Cream With Any Finger

When applying under eye cream, avoid using any finger other than your ring finger. The ring finger naturally has a lighter touch than any other. You should be as gentle as possible to the under eye area, which is our thinnest skin on our face. Since its 40% thinner than any other region of skin on the face. Therefore, use your ring finger and pat gently around the orbit and top of the eye with the cream. This will prevent further wrinkles or any damage to this vicinity of the skin.

3. Washing Your Face After Using Any Serum or Oil

After a sheet mask or any other serum-like product, it is a common misconception by many that you must wash your face after such treatment. Unlike a clay mask, the purpose of these products are to sink into the skin until the next time you wash your face. The solution is to simply let the oils sit and absorb into your skin for a long lasting glow. This step is not required but helpful, you may massage the residue in a circular motion into the skin for faster absorption.

4. Forgetting To Moisturize Your Lips Before Exfoliation

If you are like me, you probably want every part of your facial skin to be flawless. Cracked lips is especially something to prevent. With Valentine's Day coming up you want your lips to be smooth and plump. Forgetting to moisturize is a step people tend to skip before exfoliating your lips. To moisturize you may want to use Vaseline or Aquaphor for a few days in advance. After your lips are picture perfect, to remove flaky excess skin, you may exfoliate with a lip scrub (many favor Frank Body and Fresh) or gently brush your lips with a toothbrush. After exfoliation return to your chosen moisturizing product, so you don't start the cycle of drying out all over again. Remember to do this at least once a week.
