Natural Skincare and Makeup Essentials: Zoom Call Edition

David Ruff

If you are like me, you probably have been using some time during quarantine to practice self-care. My favorite self-care activity is trying new beauty products to incorporate in to my product arsenal. As we are all adjusting to our new normal, it is important to still take care of ourselves while also maintaining some semblance of our daily routines. Even though we are social distancing, I find that getting ready in the morning sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. Another way that I keep my spirits lifted is through zoom calls with friends. Whether it be online classes, meetings, or social calls, I try to look as polished as possible by indulging in my minimal makeup routine. Keep reading to find out what my favorite products are and how to shop them.

After showering and cleansing, I start my skincare routine by applying toner with reusable organic cotton pads (let’s be environmentally-friendly!) to smooth and unclog my skin gently. I like to use the Glow Recipe toner because of its hyaluronic acid leaving the skin bouncy and supple — which allows makeup to sink in to the skin much more easily.

Next, I prep the skin with the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound (I love this product because it brighten and smooths your complexion) and Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask to make sure my skin is equally hydrated and healthy. If your skin is looking a little dull, I suggested adding Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops in to your moisturizer or serum to give your skin a bronzed boost.

To correct any blemishes or dark spots/areas I go in with the Glo Skin Beauty Oil-Free Camouflage Concealer (it is a total lifesaver). The concealer is super sheer and creamy, so if you feel like you need more coverage you can use it is as a foundation to still achieve a natural no-makeup makeup look. Since I am not getting any sun anytime soon, I love to throw in a creme blush and contour. I use the Jillian Dempsey Cheek Tints and Smashbox Contour & Highlight Sticks — they are both really easy to apply and such a great price point.

And that is it! Sometimes if I am feeling extra, I will groom and fill-in my brows too (but who has time for that, lol?). Now you are ready for your zoom calls, grocery store runs, brisk walks around your house, and even a selfie session or two.
